Report school newspaper survey results

This report presents the results of a recent survey among students to gather feedback on the start of a school newspaper. The purpose of the survey was to know who would be interested in a school newspaper. The survey targeted students from the 4th till 6th grade, and key questions focused on the most popular content, like preferred format (paper or digital), number of publications, and the willingness to contribute of responsibility they would like to take.
Popular content preference
The survey revealed that 74% of the students would like to contribute to the writing team. The most popular responsibility that was chosen was to become a journalist.
79% of the students prefer a digital version of the paper. Even though a lot of them want to participate, more than half of them want the newspaper to be published once a month. The most popular sections are news articles and crosswords or sudokus.
The students are excited when it comes to adding a section where students can post news (messages) anonymously; 85% said yes to it. One last thing that is also very important, is including a teachers’ corner, 91% of the students understand the importance of having the feedback and critical mind of a teacher before publishing anything, which is very good.
Practical suggestions
Publishing a brand new school newspaper once a month is a lot of work for the writing team, but it may be possible if students really work together and put in a lot of effort and enthusiasm. Promoting the new schoolpaper might also help with other students checking it out or maybe even ask if they can still participate.
Conclusion
The results of the survey are quite positive. A lot of students are excited and really want to participate in the team. Hopefully they are serious about their answers, because only with the best cooperation, launching a school newspaper will be possible in which a lot of creativity and talent will be needed.
