How can we help young people in Ukraine make their voices heard safely — and support them in navigating today’s complex information landscape? Voice4You explores this question together with the Ukrainian NGO Kunsht in a project funded by the Swedish Institute. In the project, Ukrainian youth will try the Mobile Stories Newsroom tool, to make their voices heard.
The project explores how the Mobile Stories Newsroom tool can support young people in Ukraine and create new opportunities for youth-driven journalism and storytelling.
At a time when misinformation spreads fast and trust in information is constantly tested, PreYoU focuses on strengthening young people’s media and information literacy, source awareness, and digital citizenship. The goal is to help young people feel confident not only as consumers of information, but also as responsible creators.
The project is developed in close collaboration with the Ukrainian organisation Kunsht, which works with science communication, critical thinking, and storytelling to engage young people in society. Together, Voice4You and Kunsht will listen to young people’s needs, identify challenges, and explore how tools like Mobile Stories can be adapted to the Ukrainian context.
– Ukrainian young people are growing up in extraordinary circumstances, yet their own voices are rarely present in the public conversation. Together with Kunsht’s local knowledge and youth networks, we want to offer safe and ethical publishing tools and a European context where their own voices and everyday perspectives can be heard, said Jenny Sköld, project leader and co-founder of Voice4You.
Kunsht has for many years been developing and delivering media literacy initiatives for diverse audiences, including students in school. By combining Swedish experience in youth journalism education with Kunsht’s deep understanding of young audiences in Ukraine, the project aims to design methods that feel relevant, motivating, and meaningful for students and young creators.
– In the face of challenges such as Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the accompanying disinformation campaigns, and the growing proliferation of synthetic and AI-generated content, this work has become more important than ever. That is why we see it as a valuable opportunity to join forces with the Mobile Stories team and experiment with new approaches. We are confident that, together, we can make a meaningful contribution to combating disinformation.
PreYoU runs from 1 December 2025 to 1 December 2026 and serves as a preparatory step toward long-term collaboration. The project will generate insights that can support future initiatives where young people publish real articles, reflect on sources, and collaborate across borders.
The project aligns with the Swedish Institute’s commitment to strengthening democratic resilience and supporting Ukraine’s reconstruction and EU integration. By putting young voices at the centre, PreYoU aims to help the next generation better understand the information world they are growing up in — and feel empowered to take part in it.
