We, the founders of Mobile Stories AB, are Lotta Bergseth and Jenny Sköld. We are journalists with many years of experience from various newsrooms in Sweden.
Digitalization has brought major changes in how we communicate and absorb information. Today, most of us — especially young people — are not just consumers but also producers of content online. This means that everyone needs the knowledge that has traditionally been the expertise of journalists. Through our production and publishing tool, we want to share this knowledge and these skills with young people in lower and upper secondary school. The Newsroom-tool and plattform can also be used by youth organisations.
We want to encourage young people to create credible and well-crafted content that describes their reality, dreams, and ideas — simply because society needs their voices. At the same time, our tool can support schools in working more actively with digital source evaluation, meeting curriculum requirements regarding digital competence and media literacy, and making teaching engaging and relevant for students.
Through the nonprofit association Voice4you, we have been working since 2019 to reach new groups of students in different parts of Sweden with our tool. For this purpose, Voice4you was the first Swedish initiative to receive funding from Google.org, Google's global charitable organization.
Since 2017, we have been supported by Reach for Change’s incubator for organizations working to improve the lives of children and young people. Together with teacher and teacher educator Charlotta Granath, we are also co-authors of the book Digital Competence and Source Criticism in Practice, published by Sanoma Utbildning in 2020.
