Many people talked about romantic breakups, but not many about the friendship ones. This subject isn’t tackled enough, but I think these kinds of breakups could be even more painful than the romantic ones.

First of all, it’s important to know how to realize that a friendship is toxic and to have the courage to end it. Numerous teenagers are afraid to end a friendship because they think it‘s impossible to find someone else, but actually it’s not. In this period of life, teens need to meet many types of people to know what suits them the best.

My experience was a tough one because I ended a toxic friendship between myself and my best friend of seven years. At first, it seemed unreal, because we had the same group of friends and everyone took a side. Besides her, I had lost almost half of my group. It was hard at first, but I’m glad I’ve learned many lessons.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learnt is the fact that the world doesn’t end if I’m not friends anymore with a person that knows almost all about my life. Of course it’s painful but it’s normal to be this way, maybe that person was pulling you down or maybe you could lose opportunities of meeting other people. A quote that I relate to is from a youtuber who talks about self growth and care. Her channel is named TheWizardLiz and she asks the question “Is it a loss? or is it a redirection?”.

The most important thing is to trust yourself and to get out of your comfort zone, I like to believe that everything happens for a reason and that this is the way it was meant to happen. You must trust God, the universe or anything you believe in.
