Information and format

First of all, most of the students thought that “VIIO Gazet” would be the perfect name. While some of the pupils thought that ‘VIIO Times would be a better option. 50% of the students would like to read the newspaper both in a digital and a paper version. 79% of the respondents would like to see a new issue of the school newspaper published every month.

School paper sections

The majority (21%) decided that crosswords should definitely be included. The second most important thing they thought should be taken up in the paper is news and interviews. The students answered yes to the question if a humoristic or satirical section should be included in the paper, but there shouldn’t be any bullying. They also said yes (91%) to whether we should include “a teachers’ corner”, where teachers share opinions and tips.

Contribution to school paper

In the questionnaire students were also asked to participate in the editorial team to form the editorial team full of pupils with different talents. They could choose between different functions. 26% of the students wanted to contribute to our newspaper. The majority, 26%, was willing to take the responsibility of journalist. 17% chose for the function to interview people or work on the lay-out. 13% opted for the function of photographer. A minority wanted to be either researcher, columnist or illustrator.

The results of this survey has taught us that most of our fellow students prefer a monthly published newspaper, both digital and printed. The most important sections that should be included are news, crosswords and a humoristic section. A few students want to contribute to our school newspaper, the majority want to be journalists, while some prefer to be interviewers or photographers.
