In the Back of Our Minds: Living with the Fear of Death

How does a person with thanatophobia (the fear of death) live their day to day life?

Thanatophobia is a type of fear that manifests through anxiety. The anxiety is caused by thoughts of one's own death. This fear peaks in a person in their 20's and it slowly fades with time, but in some cases it can manifest in kids with ill parents.

I am one of those kids who experienced early trauma in life and now I am scared of death and alongside with this fear come many others. I am scared of anything that can lead to death and the thought of it always makes me anxious.

Living with this fear is a battle. The only way for me to live normally and not be anxious is to distract myself from the thought of it. it's hard, but I'm thankful for my friends that help and joke with me every day. Having people to laugh with surely helps me a lot to take a deep breath and relax. Doing things I enjoy is also my main way to relax and to stop myself from worrying.

Stress is also a day to day problem for me. Everything stresses me out and its hard to deal with it. All these emotions stop me from being motivated to do anything. It's pretty annoying because it is pretty annoying to leave some things unfinished for a long time, but I can not bring myself to do them.

It also took me too long to finish this article even though I started so long ago, but I finally brought myself to finish it.
